Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area but I was just wondering if there are any predators that can live in a 10 gallon. I currently have a climbing perch in a 10 gallon and have another free tank to stock. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks

you could get some fw puffers
African Dwarf Frogs! Sure they are little but are vicious to watch sometimes.
I love Ctenopomas. I have one too. :D They're so cute.
Right now i have a Reed Fish (rope) in a 10 gallon, though i dont know if thats a good size for them.
I know they grow slow, so he'll be ok in there for some time by himself. Probably even a couple years. But i'm moving him to a 20 gallon tonight anyway.
Although i dont really know how predatory they are. I think mine has attacked the female betta and the little feeder i have in there with him because they have little chunks of fin missing.
But he would never be able to fit them in his tiny mouth.
Are you looking for something you could feed live food to?

Yes I would like to have a predator that will eat live food.
Then a rope fish might work.

Oh, about the crabs. I thought they were all brakish and marine. Also, i thought they needed some dry land. My LFS carries fiddler and red claw crabs. I was interested in buying some but they told me they need air so i didnt buy any. Anybody know about this?

You can get a crayfish. They are really neat and cheap.

Fiddler crabs need land. They spendmost of their time on land and little time in the water. I had some and I had no clue they needed land, till it was too late. They kept escaping and I kept putting them back in. I made them drown. I felt so bad...Could get a crayfish. As for a rope fish in a 10 g, I would not suggest it. I have one and when I first got it, I put him in my 10 g and realized how cramped up he was and moved him to my 30 g.....much happier there. Get ya some african clawed frogs. I have 4 of them. Not the dwarf kind. They will tear up the feeders:grinyes:

Now thats a mean frog! Depending on size it will eat feeder guppies or ghost shrimp. I have never kept a clawed though so I dunno if i 10 gallon will be all it needs.

It is about 5". Is that a good size to keep in a 10 gallon? He seems to like feeder guppies and rosy reds.
:headbang2 I would think not maybe if he is in the only thing (besides feeders) and its a filtered or well cleaned tank. HAve fun with the froggie
