alright Ive got this fish keeping thing reel bad.always had fish when i was younger but kinda got away from it as i got older. until i got hurt and missed time at work.so my wife set up a 65 gallon and a couple fish. now I'm hooked again bad.so I'm going to do a pond or large tank in my basement.but how do you filter and heat something 600 gallons big?

How adventurous are you?

No question on filtering...wet/dry sump wins.

They sell heaters to put in your tank or sump (better), but what fun is that?

You could use a heat exchanger in your home a/c system.

Not much geothermal in MN so thats kinda out.

Solar, just build a removeable snow cover for those needy times.

Is your basement finished and heated?

Insulate 3 sides of your tank and the bottom. cover top to help stop evaporation.

I'm working on a High wattage heater, I just want to test it first...If it doesn't work I don't want someone burning they're house down or worse yet... frying their fish. :cry:
