There is a bullhead pond behind my mother's house! I am going on leave next month and I plan on bringing back some yellow bullheads with me! Everytime I go home I catch them from 4-18inches.

it's a pond and it is only about 50 ft. x 30 ft. It's teaming with golden shiners, and bullheads. I throw bread on top of the water and the water just boils with shiners eating the bread, and you can watch the bullheads come up and eat the shiners also! It's a pretty cool pond. I put tiny pieces of worm on a hook with a small sinker and put it on the bottom and catch bullheads all day long. They are pigs!

oh yeah, I meant to ask is that tank cycled or is it a new setup for these fish? Have you been keeping track of your water parameters?

cool little guys they will be big quick. i went netting with a butterfly net in the algae at a pond that had a ton of huge channel cats and i caught a baby catfish not even a cm long. i just knew it was a catfish because it had two small whiskers. if i wouldve had a fish tank then i would have kept it for sure.

New set up for these guy. I just threw it together really fast for them cuz i had no where else to put them. the only tank i had that was empty was full of salt water. I am going to get a stand for the 75g this weekend. probly 2morrow. So i will set that up ASAP and let it cycle then in they go.

If you find a supplier of them I can't imagine they would cost much! They are too readily availible to charge high prices. Maybe larger ones would cost more, but not much!

I am not sure that rainbow trout would do so well in higher water temps. They however thrive in coldwater. They are mostly found in mountain streams. They should be fine in temps in the 60s. Good luck on getting some more of the bullheads. Also remember that rainbow trout grow enormous. 30 lbs. is not unheard of for a rainbow trout. I am sure they get larger than that. They would be best kept in a coldwater tank with a chiller.

Awesome pic's
They are IMO the ultimate monster cat for a reasonable sized tank. They grow fast, but do not outgrow most tanks.
My boy was brought home one year ago a whopping 0.5 inches long-He now stretches the tape at just over 11".
Good luck with your bullheads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

I found that the growth was extremly rapid to 8 inches, it then slowed considerably.
Good luck with yours
