I just invested in a powersweep 228 for my 75 gallon fish only community and it is supposed to rotate from one side to the other. Well here is my problem, the powerhead will go over to the left side for about 30 seconds and the spend about 2 seconds on the right side. If anyone has ever owned one and could help me out it would be much appreciated.

Yes, I've owned many of these power heads. They are a great powerhead and offer a very natural current to the tank but you do have to watch out when you stir up any of the substrate since it will suck up small particals and then the particals will jam the gears up that cause the head to rotate. It's very easy to solve though, Just take the unit out of the water and you will see a seem that goes all around it behind the jet. Pull the unit appart into two halves (carefull not to loose any parts) then just rinse the gears in the tank water or blow on them and that should remove the dirt. Then just snap it back together and away you go. Sometimes you have to wiggle the nozel back and forth a bit by hand to get it going too. (this is a quick fix that you can use before you try the first one). Be carefull not to force the nozel with too much pressure because you can brake the plastic gears.
Good luck.

Good luck. :thumbsup:There's also a dial on the side to ajust the speed of the rotation.

I was doing a water change to it today and accidently unplugged it and when I plugged it back in it was a lot better and when I rinsed off the gears it works almost perfectly!
Thanks!
