exactly how contagious is popeye.... i just found out my damsel has it....but i can't get him out of my tank without trashing 2 years of decoration and coral.

there is no way i can get him out.... i've tried everything. what are the chances of it spreading? what precations can i make? ....please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

heres an idea: take a 2liter pop bottle [or smaller] and cut off the top part where you actually pour the drink from. this should leave you with a funnel shaped piece and then a cylindrical piece. turn the funnel piece upside down and place it in the cylindrical piece almost as if you pushed the neck of the pop bottle down so far it went in the other way. then drop a few shrimp pellets or some krill in the pop bottle and sink it into your tank. fish go in and most of the time cant get out. you might have to make two or three if you notice you keep catching the wrong fish but this usually works.
and someone correct me if im wrong, but i dont know that popeye is an actual disease...isnt it more of a symptom of something greater? like, a runny nose isnt a disease but a symptom of the flu. so i dont know that popeye would really be contagious, but whatever caused the popeye might be. i could be wrong but thats how ive always understood it. hope that helps. good luck.
