Hello All!
So you have probably heard (Read) my post every now and then about my 13 year old Pacu named "Killer". This was my First Fish purchased by my loving Dad when I was 10 years old (I'm 23 Now) and we started him off in a little 10g when he was only about 1 inch in length. These are some early pictures of him, since then I have put him in a 400g and he has not changed much! Enjoy the Pictures!

Nice looking pacu! After 13 years its got to be a pretty big fish! How big is it?

Thanks Fisher, He is at 1 foot in length, 8 1/2 inches tall and a good 2 1/2 inches thick! A Big Guy!

It feels great to read/hear about stuff like this...I mean you stuckwith this fish for 13 years man:thumbsup: ......I question the size of the pacu though, should'nt it be a lot bigger:confused: ?????My uncle raised 2 pacu from 1 inch to a thick,2foot size in less than 2 and a half years....The fish were kept in a 300g all their lives......Anyway, good luck and sends us another picture of it in another 13 years;) .................

To answer why he is not that big, this is my theory: We/I only feed him Flake Food, kept the tank at a mid. 75 degrees, has/had a large range of organic food and was kept in a 10g for about 2 years of his life, then a 30, 55, 90, 110, 400g.

I have had the same question asked of me before, but I just don't know how to explain why he isn't that big?!?! Some of my friends have Pacu's that are 5 years old and are the same sizes as him?? I just don't know. I have pictures of him when he was a baby and me standing next to the tank. I've taken care of him through so much, but he seems to grow every slow compared to other Pacus like him! Who knows, but he is cool!

if you kept it in a 10 gal for 2 years then most likely you have stunted it and that could be the reason why it's smaller than normal. great job keeping it alive for so long though. :thumbsup:

Pacus have such acool personality you know right what they are thinking...With the 20 incher I got I never have to vac the rocks...a couple of his excited passes and he can sure stir up the bottom stuff for my filter to gobble...:headbang2

You need to feed it something more substantial than flakes. Im afraid flakes are not enough...Good job on keeping it long term though .
