I'm asking what is the current latin name status of this/thes fish. at one point hemichromis fasciatus was the latin name now I hear hemi. fremprongi but they look different to me so was just asking if anyone knew the current status on these are they one species or two ?

never mind I've seen fremprongi & they look nothing like fasciatus so there are 3 spotted species now. Elongatus, fasciatus,& fremprongi along with many jewel species.
for now frempongi is valid name same thing for the fasciatus.some poeple claim they are the same fish.the frempongi is endemic to bosumtwi lake, this is a old ole created by a meteorit.it can be verry dificult to make the difference.
