They'll eat just about anything. Worms, pellets, detritus, etc. They prefer pellet food to anything else though. Try the sinking kind for catfish and he should readily take it.

easy to feed. like stated- anything that sinks to the bottom

Yes indeed!...When I had mine, the thing would just clean up whatever debris was on the tank bottom.
