Hey there, I'm new to Pbass and just got two 3" Mono's about a week ago. The store I bought them from said he fed them floating pellets so I bought the same brand he used. They are in a 60gal tank now and they are very skiddish and hide whenever they see me. I tried to feed them pellets the day after I bought them and they won't touch them. I tried each day after and they don't show any interest, even when the pellets are an inch above their heads floating around. I made the mistake of buying 6 larger tiger barbs, which I thought were too large for them to eat. I was wrong, they were able to eat them, they ate one a day for three days. Now they are looking hungry again so I tried pellets again, no go. I bought blood worms and they wait until the worms are laying on the ground and casualy eat them. I really want them to eat pellets and don't want to feed them live. I've read the posts about converting them from live to nonlive, but they don't have any interest in topwater action or even when food is falling. I am thinking about feeding them bloodworms until they get used to me feeding them and they get more comfortable around me. Hopefully they will start eating when I put food into the tank, rather than wait until I go away and graze for it on the ground. I know they will warm up to me, I just don't want them to starve in the meantime. I bought Hikari bloodworms, how many cubes should each eat in a day at 3"?
Also they both are very interested in their reflection and now have white bumps on their lower jaw from going up and down the tank glass. Is this normal? They are very active when I sit still on the couch or they can't see me.
This is an older tank, I had a largemouth in it for a couple years, all the vitals are perfect, filtration is optimal, keeping the tank at 84 degrees, and using an airpump.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to attempt to embed my youtube video of them.
Thanks!

Nice fish. If it were me, I'd bump up the temp. to 86-88 degrees, and not worry so much about them eating pellets at such as small size. Having worked in public aquariums, most predatory fish in my experience have to be trained to take pellets by starvation, which you don't want to do at such a small size. Feed them as much as they will eat 3 to 4 times a day until they get some size on them. Small, growing fish should eat their body weight in food daily for proper growth. Gut loaded guppies, live blackworms are good as well. Don't just feed them frozen bloodworms. Mix it up. Try bite size pieces of other frozen foods on water change days. Market shrimp is good, and not real expensive compared to frozen fish food. That way, if they don't eat it, you can siphon it out before it starts to decay in your tank.

when i first brought mine home all it would eat was rosy red feeders. But i had the idea of chopping up some night crawlers and throwing them in and he actually went for it. He still loves the rosy reds but he'll now eat almost anything i put in the tank
