It was the best picture possible, the fish is extremely flighty.

it looks like a serra geryi to me..does it have a violet line running down the center of his head?

Nope. Guy at the pestore believes it's an eglmani or howerver you spell it.

thats a rubbish photo and too big - however my guess is that its a spilopluera - might be a sanchezi - does it have any red in the throat ?

It looks like a Serrasalmus Rhombeus Venezuela it has a red anal fin silver with spots

It is definately a serrasalmus rhombeus!!! i should kno az i have 1 lol mine looks exactly the same..use google or another search engine and search for the fish...all the images are the same!!

personaly I am sliding closer to a serrasalmus brantii..
age and size of the fish will give me more information to give you a better ID

I kind of think your LFS is right, although it could be a Sanchezi.

That is not a Brandti,i would say a geryi,my Brandti never,ever had any red on his fins. :naughty:

Correction,that is a Marginatus. :thumbsup:
almost impossible to tell with that photo.. do you have different angles or a clearer picture? from that angle, and photo quality i would say a spilo
