i was wondering how much the correct pH level affects african cichlids. im not sure what my pH level in my tank is but its just tap water with no salts added. i have recently added a electric yellow labido it seems to be doing fine. do african cichlids require higher pH levels?

While the will live fine at a lower pH, their colors are never what they could be. Buffering the pH to about 8-8.5 and adding carbonates to the water will make them most beautiful.

in the wild they come from higher pH levels but most of the africans you buy in stores are farm bred and usually their pH is around neutral. Don't worry too mcuh about it they are fine. especially if they are Malawis

Keep them in whatever water pH that your tapwater comes out of
