ok bought this bichir sunday . they labled it palmas btu no way it palmas any ideas?

by the way its over 12 inchs long and lowerjaw hooks upward infront of the upperjaw

yup, i would have to agree.. there are only 2 species that i know of that look like yours which are the polypterus lapradei and the polypterus bichir bichir.. the later being rather rare, i would have to say tigerfangs is right, its a lapradei :)

well im not getting one then willie , if they get 30 inches too big for mee !
 
They were selling them for 30 a pop. had a tank full of them. They were saying there was two difrent types in the tank. some had masivly dark brown paterns others were simaler design but had a greenish hue to them. Instead of brown stripes they were greenish.
They also had fresh watter sturgeon and lung fish for sale 25 for the stur and 50 for the lungs . you think they good prices.

I did manage to get i beleve the biggest one in the tank with the most defined markins.
