i was wondering in this video how long do you think the oscar could live in there before becoming p food?

Pretty full on!
We arent allowed P's in Australia, $10K fine per fish.
I saw a large Saratoga swallow a live mouse once, That was pretty cool, But nothing like that, They go sick.

My friend sent me the video before, it's awesome when the tail falls off. I think the p's would wait until they are getting very hungry or just once they realize that the oscar doesn't really belong in there

IMO.... it's a stupid and pointless video. If you choose to use this method for feeding then fine, but there are many other healthy ways to feed your fish other than this $#%#. The animal weather it's a big Oscar or a mouse will suffer for a while before they die. The "feed" should be big enough for your fish to eat it in one or two bites. Feeding mice and Oscars are stupid. In the wild the "PREY" has a fighting chance to get away, but not in the home aquarium.( before anyone says"that's nature").

*****Before anyone ask NO I DON'T FEED LIVE FOODS*****

Cry baby.

08-16-2006, 11:15 PM
actually hes not a cry baby, its unethical, how about you stick you hand in that tank and let the piranhas bite you a couple of times. thats how that mouse felt before it died. piranhas have teeth therefore that had to hurt.

wingbak48
08-16-2006, 11:55 PM
mice were put on the earth 2 be fed to ur P's j/k
yea its ethical but its amusing 2 sum and not all.
you should not add ur input the way u did because people were raised differently
and sum can take more than others

i wish i could explain this in another way butim really tired right now

alright dude, can i feed your dog or cat to my piranha? i was raised differently and can take a little more than you. i also find it amusing

The thing is the school of RBPs will one day decide to swarm the oscar if they get hungry. I guess the guy feeds them ofetn or intentionaly is trying to feed the oscar to them. Maybe he raised it with them either way each feeding is a roll of the dice for the oscar's life the RBPs are in a frenzy & may turn on it as well as each other. I'm surprised the oscar doesn't have any nipped fins now but once the P's get bigger a feww of them will die as they'll need more room.

Only a 100% idiot a-hole would feed such animals to their P's. I hate people like you!!!! (That is to people who do this type of thing )

There are cultures that crack open a monkeys scull & eat the brains whilst it is still alive.

One persons ethics are anothers sins. I wouldnt feed a mouse to a P, I dont recommend it, nor do I recommend feaeing a baby mouse to a bunch of oscars, but people do it.

Some people do this because they think its cool or it makes them feel superior.

Feed your fish to keep them alive & healthy. Live food or not, feed your fish.

Do you suppose if you visit a place that makes fish meal for fish food, they just throw a bunch of live fish in a hopper & start blending... Think about it...

Well, I guess my opinion is different. Is it unethical, yes, but ask yourself this. If the mouse was running around your house, would you kill it, or set it free outside? Is it more humane to let a mouse get it's back broke in a mouse trap, still alive and slowly die, or freeze the mouse and then through it away or feed it to a snake? Would it be more ethical to feed the P's rosies, or goldfish, or even the oscar. You go to the store and see hamsters, buy them for your kids so on so on. In other countries hamster is a delicacy. In SA chinchilla is also food for ppl. Sure it is an un-natural environment we keep fish in, and the best food for them will always be a debate. I prefer prepared foods for health reasons, but how many fiah, shrimp, squid gave their lives being frozen? Would you like to slowly freeze to death, or be shredded in seconds? I would rather die quickly then have time to contemplate what I have done in my life. Also when the mouse was dying, all it thought about was escape, not I am cold, or I am hot...........

And I see someone else has seen FOD

An interesting flick, was it not? Should be required viewing. That was long ago, I have forgotten most of it, but that stuck.

I dont think the mouse would think what have I done with my life while it froze to death.....I think a human may thing that, but humans and mice prolly dont think the same. I would much rather freeze to death than be torn apart. That rat was thinking ouch. OUCH, STOP BITING ME THAT HURTS! Then he was dead, I would much rather freeze to death....O and he actually told me what he was thnking while he was being ate. :)

LOL:cool-1: :cool-1:

08-23-2006, 12:03 PM
RBP's do get along with oscars as long as u raise them together i have 4 RBP's average
15"s inches along with a TIGER OSCAR , problems they have been together about 8 months OSCIE is about 8 " s long here are some pics:cool-1:  :cool-1:

BigPleco
08-23-2006, 12:45 PM
Sorry to burst your bubble Perm, but those are Pacu's. RBP's do not grow that fast for one and do your "RBP's" have sharp teeth or crushing flat teeth?

perm76
08-23-2006, 3:21 PM
i am going to take close up pics of the so called flat teeth and u will see that they are indeed very pointy up top they are also stagerd some wat like sharks teeth
let me tell u they seem to tare everything in site along with the oscar but then again they were raised together and let me tell u that the TIGEROSCAR is EXTREMLY AGRESIVE
and that is a under statement i cant even keep a pleco in the tank becouse they TORE up
my last one he was about 10" long , my wife FREAKED out wen she the PLECO in PACUS mouth OSCIE has been the only thing that i have been able to without eating or fihgting
AND REMEMBER RBPs can also stand for " red belly pacu" or in this case "red belly piranha" in either case they are very agressive AND TRUST ME I KNOW FIRST HAND, these
are not my first or my last it all depends in there upbringing and there diet ,

I have seen upclose and personal, a scrap between a PACU & A WOLFFISH and it was not a prety site they were in a 12' foote tank with devider wen he yanked that diverder boy it was on untill they separated a few second later SEEN WITH MY OWN EYES ,:cool-1: :cool-1:

perm76
08-23-2006, 3:31 PM
a little info did u know that they gave the pacu thier name not unlike the lion becouse distingushing between they spiecies just like the lion is the largest cat pacus are the largest pirahna just a little info stright from the amozon village peaple have heard many stories about red bely pirahna and the pacus both black and red belys not just stories facts and events, they can get up to 30"s plus in size imagine falling in a school of 1000 of those things of that size LOL perm76

pretty old vid, I think it was the first time I ever saw a piranha eat a mouse though.

on the other hand, my old female jag swallowed a pinky mouse. it was a long shot, but since my tarantula didnt want it, I gave it a try

Ruger345
08-26-2006, 2:38 AM
Dude, those are PACU'S not PIRANHA'S. No Piranha will get 15" that quick..... Just look at the fish. As far as the mouse feeding goes. I would much rather die quick however it happens than a slow painfull or painless death.. To those that says its a quick death a painless to feed mice/ BIG ASS OSCAR'S to Piranha's let me cut a arm off then a leg and then a arm and so on......You get my point. It Sucks no matter how cool you may think it is.

BiG~O
08-26-2006, 4:06 AM
that O would be able to live in there indefinitely if those rbp are well fed. rbp are very skittish, and depending on the temperment of that O and how well the p's are fed would determine his fate.

abyss721
08-29-2006, 9:36 PM
so you only feed frozen dead food. i would prefer that also. do you find the fish adapt and do as well without the instinct to kill .

that was an awesome vid.

if they sell the mouse as a "feeder mouse" then ill buy it as a feeder. i dont feel bad watching it die because if i didnt let it die another man woulda fed it to his snake/bird. mice are useless freeloaders.

just stating my opinion just like you guys stated yours. ill be feeding my 6 p's a mice here n there when they get older. as of now i just throw in rosy's n watch them get pecked to death.

this may sound eeky and cruel, but i've seen someone feed his piranhas with a stray cat. can you just imagine the skreetches and pain the poor cat has to go through?

where did you find this vid? There was already an 8 page or so ethical debate on this vid in the vid lounge. Why doesn't someone just go to reply on that one? Then somebody can read two sides that aren't going to agree for a couple of hours. It'll be great. Sorry but this like a most aggressive fish poll. Nobody wins. If it offends you then just leave cause you're not going to change anybody's mind. If you like feeding your fish odd things it wouldn't normally eat:screwy: lol then go ahead. I'm not taking a side but I think this is pointless. Maybe we should start a mammal cruelty forum :nilly:  Then whoever wants could go there and whoever doesn't could stay out. Those who go could then be harrassed by PETA:ROFL:

big difference...the goldfish will be out of its misery after the first bite..the oscar on the other hand will suffer before it finally dies.
BIG DIFFERENCE
