most likely will eat the neons, and be eaten by the shovelnose

"Poor Mixers. Faster fishes eat their lunch. Larger fishes intimidate them. Rougher fishes bully them unmercifully. Ropefish have absolutely no way to fight back other than running and hiding. Luckily they have those tough ganoid scales. And since they eat small fishes on the night shift, you need to mix these guys carefully. Gouramis make a good mixer. Swords and moons tend to disappear."

You can always add Bichirs into the mix such as a Senegal or an Ornate:)

Some how my rope fish survived with my RTC when i had him. The RTC was just over a foot n the rope was about 11''. After i sold my RTC the rope fish was chewed up and spit out by my Guinean bichir that was half his length.

i have seen them kept with kribensis cichlids, congo tetras, african brown knife, bichirs, apistogamma cichlids, silver dollars, and once i saw one in a tank with a sideneck turtle. it all depends on the ropefish though man
