Can a Motoro be sexed at any size? Thinking of buying one and would want a female. Thanks,
Mike

Yes they can. You just have to look really close.

The male has claspers on his underside which he uses during mating.

yap. all species of rays can be sex from the moment they are born. just look beneath them, the males have a pair of little claspers underneath its pelvic fins, below the base of its tail..

o.k. cool.
So I guess it's exactly like a shark for sexing? Thanks for the replies. Also, does one sex live longer than the other? Thanks again.

Both sexes are typically long lived. Females do get considerably bigger though. This applies to most, if not all, species of ray.

Yes, it is exactly like sexing sharks. I've heard rays can live 20 years or so. I know Colin (RVRRays) has a 7 year old female that is producing pups. Not sure what the oldest captive kept ray is.
