I would get a whole bunch of Cory catfish and bunch of Neons. Do not think there is anything preditory for that size.

Actually....if you can find one....a South American Leaf Fish (Monocirrhus polyacanthus) could do reasonably well in a 12 gallon tank. Bear in mind that these fish almost always eat nothing but live fish and will starve to death before they take anything else.

Twelve gallon tank...I would say channa gachua...all by it's lonesome....get's to about 4 inches...in a bigger tank, i.e., 40 gallon, it can grow to 6-8 inches...Very hardy too, air breather so you don't need filtration, low maintenance, can survive in a stagnant water, but likes also running streams...so take your pick and splurge. Undergravel should be enough..and will eat pellets.

can u show me a pic.
forget it bro' these guys hit 10in inside of 3 years
perhaps a yellowtail cuda max at 6-7in compaired to the red baracuda at 10in
theres a **** load of preds fit for 40 or 30 gallon but not much for a 10-12g
Borrowed this from another site, couldn't upload mine. Too big of a file, and my laptop does not have the software to make it smaller.
African Butterfly fish is all I can think of that won't outgrow the tank, maybe a dwarf pike, they stay small if I recall. Small puffers are nasty as hell, and will kill all sorts of stuff.
An african underwater frog isn't a fish, but it will fit the bill of a predator.

If you could find them, you could possibly keep a pair of these guys in there:

They are supposedly mean as heck and love to tear up some small feeders. You can find out more here: Pike Killifish (http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=186)
If not, a group of dwarf puffers would be cool as well. They only get a little more than an inch long and would survive just fine on frozen foods.

1 Butis Butis (Crazy Fish) and 1 Knight Goby
or 1 Ctenopoma (Spotted Climbing Perch)
The Butis Butis only gets 6", the Ctenopoma gets 8" (depending on species).. The knight goby would be a nice bottom dweller, and they will also eat live prey. With the Butis/Goby combo, you would have to do a light brackish tank. That will be easy to maintain at 12g..
Good luck finding those fish ;)

Just a reminder, snakeheads are federally banned thoughout the US of A. All because of the northern snakehead which can breed in very cold waters. hence the ban on all snakehead species because according to the biologist at Fish and Wildlife, they don't have the resources to train their personnel to tell the difference between any snakeheads, ergo ban all of them...You do the math.

Actually.....snakeheads (Channa and Parachanna) are NOT federally banned in the United States. It is the importation of these fish from out of the country and the interstate transport of living snakeheads and their eggs that are prohibited. However, numerous state laws do prohibit the possession of snakeheads and more states are joining that group all the time.
