It seems everyone has small peacock bass (or sometimes up to about 4"). Does anyone know where one might find a supplier for adults? I need a place that is willing to ship them as well.

Thanks.

Matt

chances are that suppliers wouldn't sell them, your best luck would be with a current owner looking to palm one off.

most suppliers will not ship cichla over 7" due to the very high mortality rate...they do not ship well. ;) it is also a disadvantage for a supplier/retailer to keep large cichla as it is very expensive to keep fed per week and the demand for large cichla isnt all that great outside of the select crowd that has large enough tanks to properly house them...they would lose money feeding a large pbass week after week as well as tankspace. As said your best bet is to find a private owner willing to part with theirs.
ps...not everyone has small peacock bass:D

If you wanna drive down here to NC, there is a local fish store with a large Pbass.

they have a 13" temeis for $75 in new orleans, wish i space for the monster!!:headbang2

What would you consider adult.... LOL

hey, how big do they need to be? I know you have some arrows in that exhibit that are relatively larege, but I forget how large (17" +?)

Do you think you could get away with bass that were in 6-8" range, or is that too small?

Reason I ask is that Brian Scott might have some he could ship you. Not saying he does, but he MIGHT. I have seen tanks full of 6-8" pbass at LFS in SFO, so their must be some supplier / wholeseller selling them...

I will ask around and if I find anybody that can ship larger specimens out your way, I will let you know.

GOOD LUCK.

Try and get a hold of fishrmann2...his name is Nick. I know that he has some medium sized ones...dont know if he is willing to sell though...PM him!
