Anyone have info on a needle nosed gar? I saw a 6 inch one for 14 dollars and was thinking about it. I was looking at some pics and saw some with broken noses, how common is that?

Yeh, they are pretty jumpy, so sometimes they break their noses when the ram against the glass. The also love to jump out. Dig around in some of the other forums, gars have been mentioned many times.

Neednose Gars are fast swimmers and are skittish, most of them end up breaking their noses by ramming into glass on full speed. They usually get about a foot, I used to have 3 of them and always loved to watch them eat live food. Nice fish, just need a good size tank not to break the nose.
