What cichlid is it that you want to have but cannot due to size, availability etc..
I want to keep a pure (or mostly ) white midas with a huge hump but i cant since i dont have the time to set up another tank and an all white midas is pretty hard to find.

B. microlepis, (barred!) petenia splendida, cichla monoculus/intermedia
thats not even remotely my full cichlid 'wish list', but I suppose I'd really want those three guys more than anything else, if I had the capacity to house them.
some of the mini-geophagus species are treasurable little creatures, too
I've never seen a 100% white no-orange/red midas; do they exist? If there was such a thing, I'd be game for one, but I don't particularly lust for midas with even little orange specks on them. Much rather get a barred midas.

My dream would be to get both a fully adult sized male Dovii and male Umbee to coexist in a tank that is not over 350 gallons.

Barred Midas are nice but i like the white ones better. P45, youre right i dont think
ive seen one thats a pure white.. but im sure somebody out there has one. It can be easily done with selective breeding.
Caveman - i thought you meant Trust ate your fish... LOL gotta wear the contacts.. :wall:

LOL, He always tell me one of his freinds will eat his dead fish. I think he freezes them for the guy so that they will be fresh when he picks them up. :hitting:

I love the way they look, I had to get rid of mine because he was simply killing everything.. even went after the Pleco. a Juvenile ended up being alone in a 75 gallon and then I ended up selling him because of the aggression....
(note that is not my fish in the pic, just what I think a great Butti looks like.. I wish though. )

Yeah they look so nice when they get bigger! I know they get really aggressive.
But if the tank is big enough for them to setup territories, the aggresiveness usually goes away.

I use to have a breeding pair of buttikoferi. Both were about 8-9" and super aggressive. They actually never had a succesfull spawing but they tryed alot.

That is the problem, I live in a ****py and tiny NYC apartment.. there is barley enough room for me yet enough a huge tank. I wish I had a basement...

Vitaly... with careful planning you can get rid of the smaller tanks and just get 1 big tank!! I have done that before in a tiny apartment and have met people who do that too....

It's true! My Cambodian friend eats eveything I save. LOL He ate an Aro, red devil and sturgeons. Too bad he didn’t show up for a long time that I had to throw out a bunch of other stuff. Had some good stuff for him too. Arapaima, tinfoil barbs, snakeheads, etc etc. LOL

Damn Jed, you should open up your own fish market. That way you will make some profit and get rid of the dead fish so they don't plug your toilet up.

Different Chicla and Umbee.
Because of a lack of space, the cichlids I wish I could have are a pair of jaguars, pair red devils, and some peacock bass!

Peacock bass, specifically C. intermedia. I would also like a nice barred male midas, some Geophagus balzani, Paratilapia 'Fianarantsoa' and Amphilophus lyonsi. Within the relm of possablity I hope my next cichlids are the hornet tilapia (buti), Texas and Midas.

A year and some months later, I'd say all I'd REALLY want to keep is a nice big male P. splendida. Of course it would be crazy to pass up on a C. intermedia due to the money in it.
