Recently my two oscars developed cloudy eyes. I tested the water and found that my nitrites were off of the chart so I did an emergency 50% water change and started adding Prime to the water to neutralize the nitrites. I have been dealing with this for about 2 weeks and the nitrites are now under control but the oscars aren't getting any better I was wondering if anyone else had delt with this and if there are any other things that i should be doing right now.

The other fish: juvenile jack dempsy. pleco and leopard syndodintis are all doing just fine. They are all in a 125gal tank. I have two emperor 400 filters running all the time. I treated the cloudy eye with Maroxy and Maroxcide.

Please help...

Keep doing water changes.. add some salt :)

Don't use too much Prime, and let your biological filter stabilize. You might want to think about adding some more biological media in your filters. Make sure you are siphoning your gravel really well, and you don't have anything decaying.. and make sure not to overfeed ;)

If your water tests high you could do a 99% water change and add the new seachem stability http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/Stability.html

I have used this to start 3 tanks in the past week and I'm amazed at results

Don't forget to take the carbon out if you decide to treat the tank with med. I would recomemnd seting up a sick tank if you decide to treat them with meds because the cost of the meds and I don't believe in treating fish that aren't ill.

If they were my fish I would do the water change and add 3 cups of aquarium salt and I think they will do fine ( also raise the temp to around 80 )
