cheap fish

Anyone ever get a rare or expencibe fish for wicked cheap because the morons at the fish store dont know what it is.

One time I got a Royal Knifefish from petsmart for $5.00 because it was labeled as a Clown Knife. Also got a Royal Pleco from a LFS labeled as a common Plecostmus.

nice petco is dumb at lest the people there are i got a pike chiclid and two polypterus for like 10 bucks because they put them in a guppy tank which were all eaten. i asked what happened although i knew when i saw 2 guppies in there and the manager told me. i told him i would take them off his hands and he gave me a deal

Once got a nigrolineatus cat and a blueyed bristlenose cat for $ 1.49 ea. because they were in a tank of assorted corys. It was at a K-MART. They also sold me three Knights anoles for $1.99 ea. as green anoles. I promptly sold them @ $10 ea.

I picked up two T. dubois for around 1/4 what they'd usually cost [not sure what theyre worth in the US but theyre bloody expensive here] because the owner of the LFS, who I'm good friends with, knew he got them for cheap but forgot how cheap. He didnt lose any money on them, but he didnt make any either.

I have gotten stuff cheap/free from knowlegable lfs guys simply because they couldn't sell them or wanted me to bring in my trades or (sneaky) knew I'd soon need a bigger tank.

I got a butterfly fin koi for the same price as the normal fin koi (they were all like $9.oo each, just babies) but most places around here you would pay double that of the normal price. I’m not sure if they didn’t know what they were doing, or if I just have better eyes than the pond store people. .

3 " frontosa for $ 4.50 and 3 others fronts at a diff place (petco) for $7.99.......kicker is i was only charged for 2 of the 3 fronts I got...........I even asked the employeee if the fronts (that were in the same tank as the regular mbunas) were the same price (on special) he insisted they were!!!! I was not going to argue the point!!!! .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. I go back there every once in a while but they seem to only get tiny crappy africans in now!!!!!!!!
