A friend of mine was getting out of the hobby and gave me his 125 gallon fully load for FREE!!!!:headbang2 . He just said that i had to pick it up and break it down... so any way i was wondering what kind of Native fish i could put in there there is a river up the street fom my house. i catch bass there all the time. so i would want to put bass in there. what else could i put in there?

Get a bass as small as possible, or you'll never get it off live foods. Be sure to over-filter, but that goes without saying on MFK! A couple Bluegills would probably be OK. Get the small too.

Where are you? bullheads or madtoms will work and so will golden shiners (great fish (pics by Scorola and NFC)) if the bass is small enough. They can get 12" but 8-9" is more common. Without the bass you could also go with redfin or grass pickerel.

I like bullheads. The one I have in my 125 eats from my hand and lets me rub his head (yeah I'm wierd that way). Bass get big. You might be better off starting with small gills, green sunfish or pumkinseeds. I also like the shiner idea. I'll try to dig up my pics of my old tank with shiners in it.

yea i had a 55 gallon setup wit natives, bass and bluegills, the bass would eeat only live food like feeders and earthworms, but the bluegills would pretty much eat anything ham, fish, fish foods, etc. but be sure to over filter the tank because mine wasnt all that crystal clear.

A bass would probaly be OK in a 125 for 2-3 years if you get a fingerling. Just be sure to ver filter and change water at 30% every week.

i had a crappie in my native tank, i had problems with my bull head, he chased my bass around the tank, and almost killed him

You can probably keep the bass in the 125 until it get about 15", maybe alittle bigger. If you can find them, creek chubs are interesting fish as well.

Lets see, tench, white and yellow perch, american eels, hogchokers, brook lamprey, lake herring, gizzard shad, creek chub, are all found in MD along with serveral tiny darters and minnows.
