Well, spill it!! Whats your favorite Crenicichla!! Also give your reasons for liking that pike above the others!! I voted for Crenicichla celidochilus. There is just something about them that makes me like them a whole bunch. Very kewl pike indeed!!

The Crenicichla lenticulata look cool.But i only have 2 Crenicichla johanna.

it's tough to answer 'cause the pics are rare and such...for instance there is only the pic of rapps atabapo on his site-i look forard to seeing how mine matures. ditto (even worse) for the "fire" pike- a couple of so-so out of water pics. the pic of the rosemaria on VK's site is the most intensly colored and varied colored pike I've ever seen hands down...but again it is only one shot- are they all that way?
although i passed up the chance in favor of buying a Rapps Atabapo (took a chance).....based on the consistency of the beaties I've seen posted by HOBBYISTS, the Tapajos Red is my winner. It has a great shape- a real topedo-with an extra strong underslung jaw, wonderful deep red color, nice under eye markings. They're all beaties but that's my winner-untill PP, Amzon Fisherman and myself can produce Atabapo pics that top that, or one of the others like Rosemaria makes itself widely known.
Cinta was up there for me for the same reasons as the Tapajos-consistently shown beauties of unusual color/pattern displed in aquariums.

My personal favorite is the Red Tabajos. i love the deep intense red coloring in the females. i also hear that the Red Atabapo fires are cool but i haven't seen a pic of one that comes close to the intense red in the Tabajos.

Right now i am keeping a pair of Marmorata, a pair of Lenticulata and a pair of true Strigata. All three species are amazing. Thier patters are crisp and colors are very bright. It was a very tough vote.

Tough decision, lots of favs for different reasons. Lenticulata, Marmorata, and Cincta would be the top 3 ~~~ for color, markings, and personality.

Acuts are my fav, but I only have 3 Lents and one algae eating Johanna. IK weird huh. Acuts have amazing color and body shape. Second on my list would be Lents though. So I almost made it to my favorite. Soon, very soon.....

I would have voted for C. proteus, but it didn't make the list. Its the easiest pike I have kept (in all catagories-water parameters,aggresion, so on) but I have to go with cincta. Can't go wrong with a blue Crenicichla.

My favorite pike is the Cobra Pike. I picked this pike up a couple of weeks ago from Lynn and it arrived in about a half inch of water. I had to do some major reviving to keep this guy alive. Lynn said the color on him was great ! that is why I chose him to come to Jersey. Well I must say, after a week in his new tank, he looks great !! He is the ruler of the tank. I am looking to find some females for him, so if anyone knows of any please let me know.

I'm glad you are happy with him. Take care of that fish! I had a group of five, which did have two females. Unfortunately, my neighbor managed to switch off the electricity to their tank when I was out-of-town. I finally had to sell that remaining fish, so I'd stop being depressed about it everytime I looked at that tank w/ only one cobra in it.

You know I am going sayMarms as one, but also big fan of Lents and Cinctas. Definitely my top three in no particular order. But since I can only pic one, going with one of them that I own. MARMS

i'm very dissapointed in you to not include menezesi. but i suppose since its not on the list i'll go with notophthalmus oh wait, you left that one off too! i'll go with cobra since thats actually on there.

'atabapo fire'
This has got to be my favorite. I currently have 2 Juvi's. There about 4.5 to 5 inches now. They are very different, they way the move around and look at other fish kind of reminds me of a redline snakehead. They are starting to get more red on them every week so far. Nothing drastic yet though, but im sure they will soon. Anyway, I like there outgoing personalities and how they don't shy away from any fish in my tank but aren't overly aggressive either.
I would have to say my Lents.I had orange pikes and they were a destruction crew.I also have green dwarfs but they don't have the personality that my lents have.
Tell you what, if you put a picture of each one up, i'll tell you :D

Im likin lents at the moment. Since I got mine my cincta jonez has gone. Id like to find a cobra, but unless one ends up in my lap, Ill hold off. Plus Im having tankspace issues at the moment. I ended up hooking up my buddy with my johanna(house_64). He was at my house one day and was really digging on it, and all my pikes in general, so I gave her to him cuz I know hes gonna take real good care of her and keep her in a 240g. Im sort of converting a bunch of guys around here to pikes by giving them my extras.

Thats the best way to do it!!! Way to spread the passion man!! ;) I hope that you guys can get as passionate, as excited, and as on fire for Crenicichla as I am. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! Great great great fish!!! :D

Cincta for me. I love the color. And the one I had b4 it died had a hell of a personality.
