Hey, quick question........
Can a pleco of any size hurt a pond liner ? sucking or otherwise ?????

I would say yes,plecos are pretty relentless with thier chewing,sooner or later theyll make a hole in anything but glass

i wud deffo not take that risk, like mentioned above some species have spikes and most are great suckers. panaques have scraping teeth which will go tru the plastic.

its more of the "toothy" plecos you'll have problems with such as big panaques
