3 african pikes,3 baracudas,3 spotted gars

will this work boys???????????? i know its crazy but if they were all in a 280 gallon tank with lots of hiding spaces and i get them as babies will this be ok.i got excelent filtration to take care of the messy stuff,,,,,what u think????????????

Don't understand why we keep gettin non-cichlid related topics in here...lol. African pikes, as in not African Tiger Fish right? Your tank is rather large, so the aggression should stay down for a little bit....really don't know much about them...

It sounds like it should work. what kind of baracodas? Eventually the gar might snack on the smaller types but you should have a while, All 3 types are more eaters than fighters.

They will end up as snacks due to the size difference but you have a while, as soon as the gar gets more than 20-25% bigger swap em out.

red tails tend to top out around 10" in tanks, spotted gar will more than double that, gar tend to try to eat things that are much less than a third their size. if they grow up at the same rate than no problem but gar grow fast in the first year. If you end up with an 18" gar and a 6" cuda than you have a very short term problem. Just keep an eye on the relative growth rates. if the cuda stays at least 1/2 the size of the gar you have no problem.
