Can diff species of Pike Cichlid be kept together in one tank? Ive read that this is not possible but I want to hear from the pros.
Thanks

PP is probably the best person to answer this quetion. That being said most pikes aggression in conspecific so i would say probably not.

P is the only person Ive known to keep multiple in 1 tank. Think it was lents, Marms and atabapos in a 12?.
I cant even keep my hopeful pr of tapajos in the same tank without a divider. But I do have cinctas and johannas growing together in my 125 so far.

really depends on the size of the tank and the pikes....they get really aggressive at around 6 to 7 inches...just make sure u have a lot of hiding places...pvc pipings are great for hiding places...goodluck!!

Currently have a 13" female sp. marmorata livin with a 14"+ male venezuela, they pretty much grew up together and get along well - often acting like a bonded pair! Sometimes have skirmishes, nothin serious since July. In a community tank with a female 'red tiger' moto., large barred midas male, and a feisty smaller parrot (hybrid). plus a large pleco!
TAZ ~ congrats on your cinctas + johannas. At one point the above marmorata got along with our female cincta. Also had our male red tapajos in with a female semifasciatus for a few months, they each stuck to their own end of the tank ( 'cept at feedin time). It's always an uneasy truce - gotta have a watchful eye!!!

yeah, they flared for abit and the occasional "out of my way/spot" flash but no real fighting. Mainly looking for a female Cincta for my male. Hopefully get a johanna pr as well.
