Having a pair of female kribs in the same tank is like having two *****y best friends live in the same room. Sometimes it seems like they genuinely enjoy each other's company, but at the same time they won't stop trying to constantly one-up each other or bicker over retarted useless things all the time. In this case I would assume the lack of a male krib is leaving them with nothing to do than to pester one another. They'll go in and out of spawning conditions, I don't believe it's typical of a female kribs to just go ahead and lay without a male, much less accept another ripe female to release her eggs with. They absorb the eggs and mellow out and then go hormonal again when they're ready to spawn. Adding a male to the mix would put one female out. Dominance might play a role as to what female would win the male over. In kribs it's mostly the female's job to dazzle a male into spawning with her.

Excellent answer! Here's a trick I've used in the past to get them to stop crabbying at each other for awhile. I'll move things around the tank... change the decor. It gives them something else to think about for awhile. lol
