Anyone on here keep mantis shrimp? I set up a 10 gallon nano-reef for one, can't wait till my LFS gets one in! :D

Will a Mantis shrimp bust a ten?

Depends on the species. The larger ones may be able to, but most of the smaller ones will be fine.

I have never kept one at home, but the shop I use to work at had a pretty big one that was near 9". That thing could have broken through a 125! This one was an ornamental that we actually paid for, not the hitchhiker that was in the LR tank. He was a big boy, and boy was he fast. Loads of fun to feed.

Yeah, the employees were pretty surprised when I asked if they ever got them in.

I have ordered them in for customers before and some of them are pretty wild looking too. None of them have reported a shrimp breaking a tank..yet.

He may be small, but he's more of a ]v[onster than any of your giant fish....can your fish stab its prey with a spear? Does your fish have the best eyesight of the animal kingdom, including humans? Can your fish strike with the force of a .22 caliber bullet?

Didn't think so.;)

Very Nice! I have always wanted to keep one of these after hearing about their bad reputation, I want to try my luck at a set-up similar to yours in size (approx.10gallon or more) keep us updated on your experience with the killer shrimp !
