Yea your not gunna have much luck getting a redfin off live food. I had one for a while and he took no interest in prepared food at all. I have heard that redfins are about the hardest to get off of live food. Hopefully I have a little better luck with my grass pickerel if I try this time. But all in all if you can deal with the live food, which really isnt bad because my 6" grass is only eating like 5 everyother day or maybe a bit more, then they are awsome fish. I love watching mine hit the rosie reds and all the scales fly all over like sparkles in the water! You can see some pics of both my redfin and grass in the natives section somewhere. Good luck

Also right now will be a bit of a difficult time to get one but if you are sure about this I can help you look. I can talk to some of my friends on another forum and they may be able to help find you some.

i found a 11 incher for $30 online, just wanted to make sure he would be compatible with the other fish im getting,

11" Black Ghost Knife
9" Ornate Bichir
6" Ret-tailed shark
6" Peruvian flounder
4" African B-fly

i keep the water at 78 degrees

would you say that me gettin one would be a good idea?

Kiss everything but your kife and bichir goodbye everynight. It is a big gamble. The shark and flounder will prolly be the first to go. The bichir might even have a tough time....If you have problems with it though set it up its own tank cuz that is a chance you will probably not get again for a while with that size of a redfin. Also you could always send it to one of the other members if it gives you problems. I could find it a home in minutes! That is a chance that you dont get often.

And the temp should be fine as long as you acclimate it properly. BTW that is a really large pickerel. They usually dont get past 10".

he will be going into my 100 gallon if i get him, its not set up yet......... but by this thursday i will have it up and running.

it would suprise me if a 11" skinny fish could eat a 6" fat fish, i may be wrong.............

Well I would expect that you would be lucky to be sent a pickerel that is bigger than 6". They will most likely send you the smallest one possible. And you would be surprised how big a pickerel's mouth is. They can destroy some pretty large things. If it is smaller I think it will be perfectly fine in there as long as it cannot get eaten.
