I am looking into getting a Peacock Bass. Just was wondering if they can be weened of live food. I would be planning to feed it smelt or shrimp.

Getting them onto smelt or shrimp should be pretty easy. Pellets aren't out of the question either - the Cichla that I've kept have all come around to pellets pretty quickly.

Mine loves live fish and blood worms so if u get one make sure that when it is small to thaw the blood worms first then later it iwll eat a whole gum drop of blood worms or more to its self. thats what mine dose and it is still pretty small
