Hi im creating my very own monster tank but i could use some help from the experts out there.
The tank's dimensions are 18 feet long 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
the tank will be all cement with a shiny black outside protection layer and there will be 3 acrylic viewing windows. There is a video of the tank that i am trying to base my own on, here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfzSgbnCneM
so what i need to know is, how thick the acrylic and cement has to be, what outside protection layer i should use ( which will be shiny and black), is this idea safe? and how much the tank will cost ( money is not a problem i just want to know).
here is my plan ( just copy and paste it) http://www.flickr.com/photos/68824105@N03/6259319368/in/photostream/lightbox/

I'd say if you go glass you could cut the cost down dramatically. I'd just throw out the number 10,000 for the tank, Maybe less depending materials cost are fluctuating so much right now its hard to say.

Actually acrylic will be cheaper than glass and with a tank that size the only option. Laird Plastics was the best price available. At 6' depth, you're looking at 3" acrylic. You could probably get away with 2" if your max window width is 4'. My 4'x8' 2" piece for my tank was close to $1700 shipped. JohnPTC is the man when it comes to big cinder block/concrete tanks (current is 10K gallons). Look up some of his threads.
