Is it normal for silvers to be picky when it comes to eating?

I made sure that my aro would take pellets before purchasing him. The store was feeding a large, soft pellet and he enjoyed them. Once I got him home I put him on a diet of large NLS and he enjoyed it.

... Now he's spitting out any pellets that aren't NLS, but still begs for and continues to consume the NLS.

They often are picky. Just starve him for a couple days, and everyday offer the new food desired. If he doesn't eat just remove the food and try again tomorrow.

There are some brands of pellets my aro won't eat, some none of my other fish will eat either.

I had a silver that would eat anything you threw in the tank, even if you did it at the same time! The silver I had last wasn't too picky either but not as easy going.

i have a really really really stubborn silver, it wont eat anything but shrimp. thats it. occassionally some rosy's but usually not. i even starved it for 2 weeks but gave up because i'd rather have a picky full aro then a one that doest eat for weeks but i know is starving. i prolly reduced her growth a bit because ive tried this on a few occassions.

You could soak the shrimp in Vita-Chem, so it at least gets the nutrition that may be missing from a diet of shrimp only.
