There are two of them there, over a foot long, reaching two. One of them had eyes looking cloudy, kind of like how snakes do before shedding. They looked awesome for sure. When I raised the camera above the tank one of them looked up and followed, probably thinking I was feeding. Looked a little scary as the tank is not covered, hmm what if they jump? Especially when the Lfs is closed? And as I continued flashing the camera eventually one of them retreated, and when I neared it took reverse with an adorable expression while the other wasn't bothered.

No problem! Alligator Gar is definitely in my list, below is a picture of the first Gar I ever baught, not knowing it was indeed an Alligator Gar. A real beauty and I just loved watching him cruising near the surface like a Crocodile and bam!! working a feeder with jaws full of teeth! even at such an age..just amazing. He also had nice colouration and spots. Had to trade it with a Florida Gar when I found out what I truly had, since I live in an apartment I can't handle this awesome species. Good luck to you!:)

Better be careful of your gars, from the pic i can see your gars are having cloudy eyes.if not treat it will be worst.this will lead to other serious infections.:(

They are not mine, they are from a local Lfs near where I live. When I saw many pictures of adult alligator Gars having cloudy eyes I wondered if that's how they become lol. I hope the shopkeepers look after him / her.

So I just got home from this LFS, and guess what there was only one of these two Alligator Gars left, I believe the one with the cloudy eyes is gone or maybe what is left is that same Gar with its eyes healed.
And I looked at the tank, this time it has covers closing the top...hmm. And so I went to one of the shopkeepers and asked ,"what happened to the other Alligator Gar? Jumped out?" And he went ,"umm....yeah how do you know?"
And I smiled and said ,"because earlier there was no cover and these guys can jump out." And he smiled and said ,"yes...," like he didn't know what to say.
Poor Alligator Gar.
RIP
Very nice fish, thanks for the pics.
well, I guess his/ her memory lives on (if for a little while) on MFK. Great shots

Those are great shots. I hope you tell them that Arowana jump too in case they decide to sell some of these. Maybe the gar is still alive under a aquarium. How long can they breathe from their swim bladder?

Thank you, it should have jumped after the LFS was closed and discovered the next morning. I am not sure how long an Alligator Gar can survive out of water, should vary among sizes...so long they can remain damp they can survive I believe, once getting dry with its slime coat damaged..that's it, death comes in its way.
They do sell Arowanas and cover them, I don't know why they didn't do it with the Alligator Gars until they learned their lesson.
