I have had this geo for like 8 months and he is beautiful, but I have no clue what kind he is or how big he will get. He was about 2" when we got him and is now about 5-6". He has big reddish fins with yellow at the bottom and blue dots on the ends. His tail is the same except the red is at the base and the yellow on the end. His body is a grey color with blue irridecent dots all over him. I cannot get pics because I have no clue how to host them on this site but if somebody can give me a hosting site or something I am pretty sure I can figure it out. Oh yea I am pretty sure we got an excellent deal on him also at only five dollars.Thank you and sorry for the description.

to make your pisc smaller without photo shop just right click on the pic and then send it to a e-mail recipient...it will ask you if you want to make the pic smaller ....say yes. Now you will have an e-mail window open go to file and click on it now it will give you the option to save attachment as..... now just save it in pictures or make a new folder on the desktop and you now have pics that can be uploaded.

Hope this helps

After you save the attatchment close the e-mail window...you don't need an e-mail address because your not going to really send it.

These ones you can see his colors a bit better I think. I did them on standard so they are not so "enhanced"

He almost looks like a bigger version of a ram, but thats not possible... rams only get 2.5"... 3" max from my understanding... I still have no idea but I still want him!! :crying:

He is an awsome fish he just eats alot. We got him for 5 dollars and now they are selling them for 15 at the store we got him(still with just "geophagus" as their name) and the other is selling juriparis for 22. I like him to much to give him away sorry but if i ever want to get rid of him i will be sure to tell you since your only in PA.

It's hard to say since so many Geophagus look very similar, but my best guess is Geophagus argyrostictus.

Since you "know" your fish better than I do fronm a brief introduction and a couple of photos (scary to think that people date having met on the Internet with less information) you could check where I looked. The Geophagus section of the Cichlid Forum Species Profile page is at http://cichlid-forum.com/profiles/results.php?genus=74

ya know, i did a search on google for redhump eartheater, and i dont think thats what he has... they seem to have a different shaped head than his does. I could be wrong, I'm definately no expect, its just IMHO

The Geo looks like a female "surinamensis" sp. there are quite a few different colour types under that name. I have a male "Ablios" and he is same shape but different colour. They can get upto 20cm some but usually smaller. Hope that is a little help. J

I dont know exatcly but they dont et too big, its possible its at full grown length already. Also, if you didnt know, these fish like cooler waters and need a cooling off period 3 months of the year at temps around 60 degrees.
