Hi all

Heres a few pics, they are'nt the best , I will get more pics when i get the better camera. The fish are housed with 2 x Royal clown knifes, and 2 sliver dollars, they all submit to the wolves. The clown knifes are 13"+, they are smaller than the wolves.

the wolves do have a go at them but its all mild at the moment, i think as long as they dont fight back the knives seem safe, at first the knives did try and fight back, bad move they did get a bit marked up, tank seems ok at the moment, however as the wolves get more settled in the tank who knows wot will happen:WHOA:

I don't know, they may be a pair. If so, your knives are done. The fatter one may be female, thinner male. I'd keep a very very close eye on them. Soon as territory is established, it's lights out for your knives. On a lighter note, very nice lookin wolves bro.

Yes stotty i had to get them once i saw them the first time i fell in luv with them  i had to get them and I knew i would!

Snake charmer they are Hoplias Malabaricus and i got them from Martin Trades as Amazan Basin he mainly deals in piranha but time to time he gets other odd balls. Martin can be contacted on 07910420320 or martin@martinreilly.orangehome.co.uk, he is a great guy with excellent quality fish.

thanx peops :cool-1:

Yeah i am surprised myself the silver dollars are still around, it may be the case these fish are brought in big from the wild so are used to being around other fish??? yeah i know i doubt this is the case. Lets see wot happens, as the wolves do seem to be getting more aggressive.

 :WHOA: Peops you were all right about the wolves, the knife fish have been beaten up, bloody fins and cuts, they will have to go tommorow that is if they survive the night! one of the wolves has really got it in for them arches its body up and watches them if it was not for me in the room distracting them it would have striked for the kill. Look awsome though :D

Has anyone got any advise on what fish can be kept with wolves and the best way of introducing them to community tanks?

Has anyone got any advise on what fish can be kept with wolves and the best way of introducing them to community tanks?

From what I have read (and this thread confirms it) seems like very little... the Common Wolves, especially, are incredibly aggressive. I've read that the smaller wolves, like the Hi-fin red, are both smaller and "less aggressive" and can be kept with other suitably sized aggressive predators.

barracudauk i currently have 2 silver dollars with my remaining wolf fish the female died, the silver dollars have been in there before i got the wolf fish however i did have one episode where the female had one of the silver dollars in its mouth had to get in there with a net to save it!!

I used to have two 13" knife fish with my wolves they got beaten up quite badly, i had to get rid of them before they got killed.

i think you may be able to keep other fish as long the wolves are brought fairly young, with mature wolves you may struggle especially with fish that are seen as food competition or a threat, i think wolf fish can over power and kill most fish including piranha, large cichlids and snake heads.

its always a risk mixing any fish with wolves its trial and error mate sorry cant be anymore help
