Can any one tell me what this is? I got 2 of them about 6 months ago and if they keep growing I'm gonna be in trouble! Sorry for the crappy photo's.

Looks like a Marbled Goby. They can get 14 in...I think. I know they get big and they'll eat whatever they can.

I used to work in a pet shop where we had a few of these in the display tank. One of them got stuck in the intake, burnt out the filter, and was a pain to get out. It was dead. My co-worker had to stab it with a screw driver to get it out. It was a bit messy to say the least. That was a fat goby too. It was probably 13"

Geeez... My big one is a pig, but hasn't bothered anyone....yet. I HAVE noticed that no one messes with him though.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting your max size info, but Oxyeleotris marmorata gets over two feet in length. For example, fishbase lists max size at 65 cm SL (i.e., without the tail)!

I've personally seen 18+ inch marble gobies, so they do get big, larger that the related "water cow" Eleotris picta, which maxes out around 18 inches.

My last one was 20" and they're reported up to 25". Mine ate, or tried to eat, everything up to nearly 2/3s his size.

They are amazing gobies. I had one with a couple of wolfishes years ago. No fish would mess with him. Ate alot as well. Greedy fish indeed/

He (or she:) ) is in a overcrowded 125 gallon and seems to have slowed it's growth for now. Soon to be in a 180 or bigger though:D .
