I know you cant keep two silvers together, but can you keep a silver and black together? theyll be in a 100g tank for around a year until i upgrade to a 6'-30"-31" tank. ill get them both at 4inches.

Dont risk it. Chances are that one will beat the hell out of the other.

I know several people that tried but failed for some reason. Off hand, I'd think the growth rate is way off on the black vs the silver. Considering the price, I wouldn't risk it.

Good choice.;)
I bought 2 blacks and tried to keep them together :screwy: bad idea. One of them got picked on. When I came home one day I thoght one of them jumped out of the tank. I searched for him, and found him hiding under a piece of driftwood.

I put one of them in a 180 shortly after.:D

When the lfs start getting silvers in, I plan on getting 4-5 of them and tring to put them all together to grow them out for my pond.

after looking at some posts, i saw loads of people keeping two silvers together. Are blacks and silvers agressive against each other? could i get two blacks or can only silvers be kept in 2s?

its usually when there young they fight i guess. i have 2 silvers n there fine. i've seen pics of peopels setups with 1 black n 1 silver but its usually of large ones. i say if u have a 150 or something or that 100gal, split it down the middle while there young. as they grow remove it. if u notice agression re-split it. it mite work, it mite not. it depends on the fish.

With blacks and silvers it is just luck of the draw when you keep them in groups of 2. Wanna play a game of russian roulette?? Same idea, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I wouldn't do the silver and the black. If you want to have multiples it works fine if you have 4+ aros. A large tank is needed though.

I have 2 9" silvers together and they always swim near eachother and seem fine. Theres nipping everynow and then but thats normal. The oscar though whos 5" picks on everyone.. So whatever you do dont get an oscar.
