Hey guys... I bought my Gecko some mealworms yesterday and thought to try and feed it to my Aro hes about 8 inches now. He pounced on it pretty fast. But then again he eats anything i throw in there. Even my finger, anyways are those good or bad food for them? nutritious? Dangerous?

Mealworms are healthy and nutritious. Avoid feeding them to baby arowana as the hard shell is difficult to digest and may cause problem in the gut(i was told this by some one in the know a few years back) They are a source of high protein and have given them to quite a few of my fish over the years. the pale looking mealworm have just shed its shell so use these.
i feed my aro these and it loves them.

I also feed these ('superworms') to my aros & other fish and they simply go crazy over them! I will usually gutload first before feeding to my fish... I feed the mealworms w/ leftover freeze-dry krill remains and a high quality flake food. :)
On the nutritious side, i'd say they are healthy & safe to feed, just as long it'ds not overfed, and is fed along w/ a varied diet.
Although I have heard other members say that mealworms do have a fairly high fat content in them... (don't know how true or not true this is?... or know much details on or about this matter in general?)... because of this reason, I will usually do more frequent water changes on my tanks after have fed a good amount of mealworms to my fish.
I have noticed that after a feeding session, there tends to show more oil/fat layer at the surface of the water. Also, keep in mind that after your fish have digested and passed the mealworms, the 'shell' wastes remains will clog your filters more faster, therefore maintenance needs to be done more often than usual.

I've used them as part of my diets for my aros and silver dollars without a problem. they love them.
