What is the reason prices vary so much among sub species of pBass?

Looks like mono's are the cheapest, around $20. But Kelberi goes above $100. Is Kelberi the most expensive variety?

Is it due to the availability or do the higher priced categories look nicer?

It has to do with demand and availability. Farmies are the cheapest, not sure which is the highest price

$100 is no where near the most expensive. When the xingus from germany first hit the market a few months ago they were going for $250 at 1in. You see a few wc kelberi going for 2-250 for 5in. The prices vary, as does each sub species rarity.

Okay. So the price is mainly decided by how rare the sub species is, not by the looks?
Pretty much yes.....You will usually find that the more expensive cichla are not easy to come by on a regular basis and they have not been bred in captivity very often if at all.As far as looks and which ones look better than others, that is strictly up to the buyer/owner.
