What would a minimum size tank be to breed rays on average I know they vary in size. Or would the better route definately to use a pond of some kind. Also do they need multiple partners to choose from like some fish? THanks guys.

a rough ruke of thumb might be.....a tank at least as wide as the ray is long, including tail, and at least 4 times that for the length...
pools are cheapest by far. Tanks are a nicer display in your living room.
Worry first about keeping rays happy and healthy, then breeding is a biological imperative
I agree David I need to first worry about keeping rays healthy and it will fall into place.

A 180 seems small however it has been done. Ron Oldfeld just wrote the breeding article in TFH and he had his in a 8' x 2' x 20" vat.
Mine are in a 450 gallon pond and it seems to work fine for them.
