the pike in the pictures are Esox Lucius or as people in the states and some other parts of the world like to call them "Northen Pike"
the Amur pike as you refer to is also known as blackspotted pike, Esox reichertii

dredcon
11-28-2006, 5:19 PM
Some fish (grouper and snook) were caught in the everglades. Most of the bass and the black drum were caught in Mississippi. The smallmouth was caught in Michigan. Most of the others were caught in Louisiana.

heres my personal bests for the west coast, 10lb shark, and 8lb halibut.............. the shark was on eight(nearly spooled me) and the butt was on 3lb (once again, nearly spooled me).
on the east i caught a 30lb stripped bass (i refuse to call them rockfish cuz thats just stupid), but the pics didnt come out... i was pissed!
i hate fishin in salt on the east coast tho........i rented a bowrider and fished all day, under several balls of bait (in MD) and didnt catch a single thing... over here on da west that would be crawiling with bonies and yellowtail!!!!!!!
my best bass is my 6lb smallie caught out of pinchot lake in PA on 3lb test. my overall best freshwater fish was a 3' grass carp i hooked in a tiny ass lagoon georgia on 3lb test..... i had him at the bank for like an hour before i decied there was no way i was gonna get him up the steep mud bank. so i measured him with my rod and turned him loose. we used to catch all kinds of crazy **** in that puddle, Gar, HUGE bowfin, and catfish.
heres pics of the shark and halibut... ill scan the pics of the smallie and stripper later........

The secret with the night pike fishing in England and Europe we use dead baits on Alarms so they fined the bait and yes they do hunt at night the Carp and Cats love it the cover of darkness can really pull out the big fish.;)

Ehh I didnt get my first digital camera untill recently so most of my stuff I dont have pics of but my best are:
FW
LMB- 24" (measured) 8-10lbs est
SMB- 3lbs est on 4lb line!
flathead catfish 37"
Hybrid bass 10lbs
4ft gar
SW
Shark-nurse- over 7ft long on 20lb line and 3hour fight!
Redsnapper- 12lbs
Grouper-gag-18lbs
Sheepshead-7lbs
Bunch of large King and Spanish Mackeral
Several nice trout and redfish but nothing to brag home about
I caught a puffer fish once
Ive been fortunate enough to live in places where there was always a good fishin hole nearby my whole life. Ive caught MANY differnt species of FW and SW fish from Mexico up to Canada! One of the most exciting two weeks of my life was when I spent one week up in Canada fishing for pike and SMB and two days later I was about 60 miles out of P'cola florida cranking up AJs off of the oil rigs! Fishing is like the only thing I actually consider my self to be good at and I love it!!
