4-lined pictus cats, spotted pictus cats. those two will eat small fish that fit in their mouths, like guppies/neons/really small goldfish.
any synodontis cats you find in your lfs will work too

go with Mystus Nemurus. Asian red tail. Mean as hell. had one take skin off my fingers in a rage. started attacking my cichlids at night so i got rid of it. They are one tough ass fish though. give it a shot you wont be disappointed. they get to about 24" but would be ok in a 55 for quite some time.

i have seen a 24 inch Lima.
Feed them live foods and keep the water clean, and you will see decent growth.

p. zungaro bufonis..giant bumblebee cat.....had 3 in a 40 breeder tank for 3 yrs.the pic is small cause I guess I have no more upload space left?? the ones pictured are 7-8" these are not the common microglanis that you see alot labeled bumblebee cats...these guys get approx 9" and as round as a golfball...mine were very aggressive.

What do you mean by big, The big cats to me all get bigger than a 55 gal tank. A nice size cat for that would be maybe a bahgensis, any pictus, or a negris lineatus

what about a jaguar catfish, they're sweet looking and i think they only get around 10 inches not positive though...
I have kept mystus wykii and they are mean catfish: get to 20-28 " and will kill all tanks occupants regardless of size and will bite your fingers if you get too cllose.
tanks size for one is 8ft minmum.
im growing a tiger shovelnose on for a tropical pond at the moment, the catfish is only a baby at 10"
What about a Brachyplatystoma jurense? They grow slower, don't swim all that much, are a 'lighter bodied' catfish that is definitely not that messy. I think it works. Still gives you the option of adding in a couple smaller fish, as these guys don't eat other occupants quite as large as what Redtails and Paroons do.
