Looking for a spot in FL to go PBASS fishing

This spring I will be on my way to Fl for a week (work) and would like to do a little PBASS fishing... But not a pay-ed trip but some (Free of the side of the road PBASS fishing). So how far south would I have to go to catch so peacks... and can any on drop the name of a good spot...

there are no peas in orlando its way too cold in the winter for them. From miami up to southern palm beach county you can find pbass... if youre on the west coast there wont be any there.... good luck

Where's JuanTamad, he'd have the answer...tho I don't know if he wants to give his secrets out. (it's his home turf).

Miami area in the drainage canels and west along alligator alley for a ways, Oscars too if your interested.

You'll need a temp. fishing license unless you use a cane pole. They (F/W) do check around there.

You may fish year round. It's tougher during the cold months though. They head for deeper water. A boat will help and live shiners is the way to go.

Good luck. If you are lucky, it might rain the week before you arrive and you might see a few pairs spawning near shore when you get here. The best months for local PB fishing has been May through August for me. It starts slowing down after that. I caught a few last month. Zero so far this month, December. I've caught PB every single month this year except December. But it's too early to count December out.;)

Probably nothing in naples, it still gets a bit cold in those parts. stick with miami and good luck.

And does anyone know of any fishfarm that welcome guest for tours.

Neighborhood Fish Farm in South-West Miami Dade does. However they are more like a LFS than fish farm. Nice collection of Tropicals and Kois and sometimes African Cichlids. Cheap Aquarium plants too.

I'm going to drive down to miami on the 11th of Jan (all day rain or shine) and try the lake system right next to the Miaim int airport. All I need now is a bait shop to pick up some shiners.

One more thing would a black bass rig with 15 pound test be OK for Pbass. Or should I make a run to walmart for some spider wire...

The laws are ok Right now Im back home in Ft.Worth Texas with MWSS-473 Det E (DET A in Cal) I have 53 other Engineer... Im the only active duty Eng with a Plt of resvest...

As for Laws

Black Bass must be 14 in and the same for catfish, You can Bow fight carp,gar and catfish... The lake's water level has droped about half and fishing is not so good.

miami has a lot of pbass. i dont really fish around there though. find a bait and tackle store and ask someone where a good spot is im sure theyll help you

Lots of rains in the past week. Have not had a chance to go fishing though.

Superlaz had and I believe he caught a couple of 18" PBs and witnessed 4 pairs spawning, recently.

If you PM he might even share where he saw them at.:)

Weather forecast through the middle of next week is High in the 80s and lows above 70. Perfect fishing weather for PBs and they will be in the mood after the spate of rains last week.:D
