I have frozen bloodworms and plankton that I feed my puffer. If I were to put ghost shrimp in there, should I still feed them the variety or should I wait till he eats all the shrimp?

Puffers will eat anything they want. Mine feeds on frozen krill even though the live ones are in the tank. It is just easier for him to catch dead stuff. When I'm not around, he will hunt for the ghost shrimp, so go ahead and put some in the tank.

i watch my GSP and F8's go nuts chasing ghost shrimp, i recommend getting them. very entertaining to watch. plus helps them keep that predatory nature with live food to hunt. they do still love to eat the frozen bloodworms and stuff. as long as they know that the frozen stuff is food they will eat.

Just remember ghost shrimp are not saltwater shrimp they don't survive long in the tank so be careful to how much you add so you dont spike your ammonia. I will in the next day or two give you something SPECTACULAR for your puffer that is better for them free shipping and survives in the tank.

pet store close to me actually has saltwater ghost shrimp. before i knew this i was just getting the FW ones(only like a dozen) and they still lasted a few days. but even as they died off a puffer would come across it and eat it. i kept a close eye for ghost shrimp carcasses(sp?) while i still saw them in there

I plan on putting some ghosts in with my GSP's, but I will continue to feed them Mysis & bloodworm so the shrimp last longer. I've heard they have almost no nutritional value, so they are just to distract the puffs from chasing/nipping my speckled sailfin mollies.

Also with puffer's I once every two week's give mine some mollusk's or clam's with the shell's to help keep there teeth filled down which is a necessity I will send you some link's to where I buy some good food and most of the shipping is free.
