Hey Joel, I knew you'd like it... Just wait you will want more.. I have three on their way to me this week... I feed mine mostly raw shrimp and shrimp pellets. But I have not found them to be very picky. They have eaten.. frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, Market shrimp, live blackworms, and feeder platties and mollies..

Bichirs are just the best fish! I have 6 of them....They pretty much eat whatever I put into the tank!

its funny how most of your bichers eat anything. my p endi is very picky and a very slow eater.

it needs to learn to go after the food with tankmates such as datnoids and tigrinus

Feeding
Live foods : guppies , rosey red minnows, ghost shrimp, earthworms
frozen: bloodworms, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp , krill, squid and frozen silversides
some will take pellets, lean meaty foods such as beefheart are good too
but you need to balance their diet for nutrition so vary the diet, not just one
thing. How much to feed them ? Feed them until their belly bows slightly.
and skipping a meal will not hurt them remember in the wild food is not
always available.A nice round bichir is a happy bichir -Anne

trekie1....I'm assuming you mean 'Senegal'....and I agree with you all. I currently have over 20 bichirs in various tanks and I'm always on the prowl for more.

Here's a link to an article I wrote on the Senegal Bichir that might answer a few of the questions that some of you new to bichir keeping might have:
