Is pool sand ok for rays? I ask this because it says it is silica sand on the bag?

is it 100percent silica..idk but it should be fine wit rays ive used it wit my cichlids before....

I presently use pool filter sand and I am very happy with it..... no problems with the rays at all.

Yes it says silica # 20 on it and something about quartz too...?

Attached are pictures of my 100% quartz pool filter sand. I mix 50 lbs. of it with 5 lbs. of fine aquarium gravel.

I have heard that silica is a no-no, but I see many users on this site that use it without problems.

Silicia, especially over the long term, can cause irritation to the rays underside.

Someone once explained to me "Rays encounter all sorts of abrasive sands in the wild, so this should be fine.." However, if a Ray dosn't like the feel of sand in the wild, it has the option to move away.

I wouldn't reccomend any silica.
