View Full Version : Keep this forum rolling!
It is a shame this particular forum is dieing, I always found it so interesting and useful when I arrived here a month ago.
I know this will never be as active as other forums because not everyone has indoor ponds! But lets get some pictures coming! Some updates! Some step by step ‘how to do it’ topics etc.
This forum represents part of the peak of monster fish keeping, to own an indoor pond that can hold the biggest of monsters! So lets keep it active and going!

Trying to talk the mom into moving the table and us doing a little 900g pond inside :) lets see what she says.
Haha excellent!
We will start a petition if you like?!
It would be great to see some fresh blood of projects in the forum!

haha, she said no new projects untill the new year :) so lets hope!!!! :D
New year is just a few weeks away now!
That gives us plenty of time to get a few hundred signatures (names) to a petition.
Of course you have to keep to your side of the deal and supply us with many pictures like with past projects hehe.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA boy who cried Tank, is not believed no more!!:headbang2      :screwy:
After his parents allowed him (a very young man) to construct this (topic link below), and actually helped him construct it, i have much faith in what he says.
People presumed he was just another 'kid dreaming' and attention seeking when he started talk about his soon to be project. Well he soon silenced critics when this post popped up:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44630
Also note how he said 'Trying to talk', hence nothing is a dead cert, and there is never harm in trying. Especially with parents as cool as his.
I am sorry, but back off with the criticism…there was no need for it…

1.) my tank dosent leak... if you want you could call my dad and ask...
2.) I do have a 10lb bass mounted on my damn wall that my father cought.
3.) im not sure if its 3 lbs i said i think, thats why we are gona weigh it tonight.
4.) I already explained why it wasent 550gallon he dident have any sheets long enough do you not read?
5.) Only reason I was going to miami was because i wanted to see My sisters boyfriends parents and spend some time with them, and most importantly was to catch some Pbass but why should I go now when i bought some?
I always think it is a shame that a community of any kind always has someone like in the above example in it, in this case it being midnight at the moment.
The one thing i liked about MFK when i joined was the lack of hatters and the lack of disrespect. If someone disagreed with something on here, they conducting and put it across in a sensible manner.
Such a shame even MFK has fools that have to put ' ' after every poor joke while knocking another member of the community.
If MilkMan has told a few lies in his time here, i am sure you are not the only person to realise. But is it really necessary to try and publicly upset and embarrass him, and bring down the spirit of the community?
I know I sound like such a boring fart here, hell – I am a boring fart. But I can’t stand people like yourself midnight, using a fish forum to knock other people… it’s a fish forum… use it for fish related stuff or basking in the communities spirit. Not to tell nasty jokes and claims to upset other members…
Surely that seems fair enough?

Well put
I think this is why I kinda flew off the handle. It seems like in the past 3-4 weeks a lot of this piddly little put down and b.s. has been happening at an alarming rate. I'm just sick of reading it. And while Milk sometimes might embelish a little I don't think he is a sh!# talker. His enthusiam for the hobby at such a young age is a really good thing I think IMO. But anyways yeah I'm just tired of reading other people put down other people. It's ignorant and immature (course the people doing it always claim to be adults who have more tanks than anybody combined) but whatever I'm tired of typing and I leave work in 5 minutes. Thank goodness

well after this I gotta admit I personally don't really care :headshake not that you're asking me, just voicing my opinion. Normally I don't like to see people leave forums but after acting like a "know it all" and putting somebody down like that it's probably for the best:D Seems to me that most of your comments are pessimistic. Maybe you should try not being so cynical all the time. Most people like that I know generally aren't real happy people. But it's probably a little too late to change your outlook on life. And considering how you're so unrelenting and unwiliing to acknowledge that your being an ahole. Most people would apologize but I suppose you're probably not big on those either. Alright well that's enough of my irritated ramblings for the day:irked:
edit: Oh and can a leaking tank not be fixed? I thought there was even a sticky on how to repair acrylic tanks. Didn't he also say he was draining it so his father and him could fix it? I could have sworn the answer to those questions was yes but maybe I'm wrong.

Haha funny how things go isn’t it.
This forum represents life in every way, its all unpredictable.
I started this topic to try and get some indoor pond stuff going again and get the forum rolling. But then an argument erupts, followed by people choosing their corner and who to backup, followed by the narrow humour of others talking about turning blind and life cycles.
Haha, at least the forum got rolling, even if it was a little off topic.

Softturtle... If it's inside the house (garage included), over 300g, on the floor (?) and has fish in it, we'll consider it a pond...(what's in yours anyway?)

Well, by those standards... its not a pond. It is in my basement. It is raised of the floor on cinder blocks so the overflow is higher than the the 21" high sump. At the moment there are no fish in it, I tried to get a mangrove jack in there but it died on me. I did have a bunch of LM bass in there at one point in time, but they went back to their owner (I was just holding them). So now it just has two Florida Softshells in there. I plan on getting some p-bass to complete the "Florida like ecosystem". Maybe some type of small gar but thats in the future. I have other things I have to get going on now.

And a bunch of bluegill. That will be the ultimate native tank. Oh and a chain pickerel. And way to keep this forum rolling guys! Doing a great job:screwy: ! Lets get back on track.

Despite all the disagreements in this topic, I think we can all agree that it is time to drop this argument and move on with on-topic discussion.
People do not come onto fish sites to argue with near strangers, so let’s leave that general rule alone.
I know there are some members out there with some real nice indoor ponds, maybe they have not come across this topic yet as this forum has been dormant for so long.
However when they do, we would love to see some updates, further pictures etc.
And for those unaware, an indoor pond can really be classified as anything that holds water inside and is dedicated to holding that water permanently. So that includes plywood ponds, Rubbermaid ponds, concrete ponds and even bath tubs etc!

I guess That I should probally post more in this forum but I dont know why I dont.. I have many indoor ponds that are not discussed Ihave many projects that I have that are not in the forums either but ohwell.. Its not that I have Illegal fish its just that they are for growing and selling purposes and there is no need to show off my money making projects
Dr Joe
12-14-2006, 7:17 AM
Is it over ? Yeah! I hear stories of fish stuff...
Ok softy, if you put it in your house in the last 15 minutes we can grandfather it in as a indoor pond...picky...picky...picky :D .
Midnight, how do you keep fish in yours? The soap keeps killing mine...(would be a pain to have to do the stingray shuffle in your own tub)
Rottbo, I 'm sure alot of people would be interested in your systems (I for one), and as long as it's not blatant advertising (even if it is) showing them would futher peoples education. We are all about not reinventing to wheel here. Alot of people would like to have a large pond and just don't know how to go about it, so what better way to show them than with a successful setup.
Glad we're on track again...now if I move the dining table to the living room that would give me space for a 10x12 hhmmm, I may not survive this one.
Dr Joe
.
Haha Dr Joe! Put a smile on my face there.
Rottbo, i am really interested now, you have built up some suspense!
If you do have Illegal fish we won’t tell if you share them out nicely. But of course you do not have any illegal fish as we are all such legit fish keepers *looks around room*.
I have a future ambition of using indoor ponds (and love of the hobby) into making me some serious beer money like my dad used to. So your little ventures really have my goat now!
So get your camera ready and start making some topics!

Dell that’s a monster Indoor pond and the lighting you have on it is like daylight.:D
I thought this was Indoor ponds?;)
I am surprised there isn’t a lot more about they are a relatively cheap fix to keeping large fish the only down sides are viewing this isn’t a problem if you fish are huge and moisture in the room I sorted this with a cover as my one is in a fish room it only requires lifting for viewing the fish feeding and maintenance.

Nothing a giant green-house (glass-house) built around it can not mix :)

Indeed, i guess it takes a hard core monster fish keeper to go to the extreme of hundreds or thousands of gallons. Nonetheless, so much cheaper than tanks of even a fraction of the size. Especially around our part Scott!
As for the viewing, personally some fish look so much better (and more natural) when viewed from above. Arowanas being one of them, and stingrays, in fact i prefer pacu from above as well. I think it is smaller fish that tend to be enjoyed more from the side. Then again people don’t stock ponds with thousands of tetra (knock me down if you have a picture of such permanent setups)!

You're right, a lot of monsters love to be viewed from the top. My neighbor had an indoor pond with pacu and Oscars and they were the coolest fish ever.

Seriously, I will be putting up a very cheap 1200 gallon pond (pool):) this summer that will be stocked with a pacu, silver arowana, and a rtc. I will be sure to post the outcome of the pond in the "indoor pond" forum- as well as the "catfish", "arowana", and "other monster" forums.:D
