Hi everybody! My name is Missy and I think your site is great. I am new here and I am glad to be here. I have had fish for 26 years and my specialty is growing the plecos. I just lost 1 last Feb. He was 14 1/2 years old and 2 ' 9 1/2 " long. I am branching out a little into cichlids, but mainly I have semi-aggressive fish.

Well, I recently acquired a new one. I think he is a Rhino Pleco(?) he looks armor plated, and I haven't seen anything like him. Any suggestions on where to look?

for big plecos or pleco id ?

Big Plecos you can go to our buy and sell section and look for Rare Exotic Fish..
his name is Jon Rare and he regularly offers big nice plecs at very reasonable prices.

For ID , go to planetcatfish.com and you can search there...

The only plecos I have ever got to even 1' ended up as empty heads. I like plecos and hope next time I keep them i will do it right, esp. nigrans lineatus.

Eaten by tank mates, mainly red bellies when I left for a while.

yes, he was a common. he started out in a 10 gal tank at 1" long. then moved to a 20, 29 custom, 44 hex, then 55. he grew pretty steadily and didn't so much bother anyone else- except Kermit the aquatic frog. He ate Kermit. LOL swooped down, sucked him up and spit him out. next morning, frog was nowhere to be found.
