I watch a whole program on it on the Discovery channel (it was called Okie Noodling)
its mad basically you insert you hand in a dark underwater hole to feel for a catfish, it clamps its mouth round you arm and you pull it out.(you hope) they also try to spin on your arm the other problem is apparently snapping turtle and beavers are the most dangerous things as you can loose the odd finger also some of the biggest fish caught weighing in at up to 50-60 pounds so try to pull that out on your arm can be a bit hazardous so there is also the added bonus of drowning.;)

:WHOA: Why would u do that. Thats why they made these cool new things call fishing poles
yeah I'am good with that . I work with a guy who trap's aligator snappin turtle's and he find's one's that barely fit in to a 55 gal garbage pal . so I'am slightly affraid to poke around on the bottom of any lake , stream or river with my bare hand PHUCK THAT !! lol :D those were great find's stotty ...

I've seen a documentary on it once. It was funny. While Fishing involves poles and bait, Noodling can only be called "Noodling" if it's just your bare hands. Scuba Tanks and Snorkling gear would be against regulations...what weird "sport"

I saw a special once and they allowed scuba gear in a tourney, they just had to register differently. two prizes were given for the tourney: one for scuba one for no scuba.

well personally i use welding gloves and a broom stick. some folks use gas powered air pumps. Its not that wierd of a sport. there are way wierder ones curling, ping pong, lumber sports.

there are a ***** load in oklahoma and im not familiar with the lake im going to. but that makes it even funner. its kinda like shoplifting if something goes wrong your screwed but if everything goes right the payoff is sweet. plus noodling is one hell of a rush

I've never heard of noodling before.
It does sound like a more humane way of catching a fish VS a hooked mouth.
Couldn't you stick something else down the hole besides your arm?. That sounds really freaky especially not knowing what 'll bite you.
A snapping turtle can bite a person's finger off very easily. With a huge one, I'd be afraid of losing my whole hand.

youve probably never heard of it cause your a yankee lol. lots of poeple in oklahoma and north texas noodle.
its not that humane cause when you clean the fish it is usually still alive.
i stick a broom handle in the hole just a bout half a foot before my hand.

I bought a video from Best BUy about Noodling, I don't think I want to try it myself, but I have been hooked on it ever since! I hear that you need to watch for snakes and otters, they will tear your arm apart! The video also said that drowning is a big danger because people stick there arms in holes under the waters surface and can actually get stuck and drown even in fairly shallow water! This just goes to show that catfish really will eat anything ! Good luck with your noodling and anyone here doing this take some pics for us!!

we went up to oklahoma and there werent any fish where we were noodlin.so after about 8 hours in oklahoma we came back to texas and went to shamrock.we ate at one of my friends house and came back home. my friends in shamrock live on this small river and that thing is loaded with catfish but there arent any rocks and caves under water so we couldnt noodle there i wish we could cause thoses suckers were huge 2.5 feet was at least the average. he also said that there were some gator gar in there too.
