Ive just purchased 4 inch clown knife fish he gets on great with his tank mates. Any tips or info would be appreciated (especially on food and eventual size)

I'll move this to the right section for ya.

Carnivore... market shrimp, beefheart, blood worms, blackworms, mysis shrimp, and squid/octopus will all be readily accepted. They will also go after ghost shrimps, and many other small shrimps, small fish such as tetras, and night crawlers. Eventual size: 48".

all of the above you is true...potentially i think the ck max out in captivity at about 36"-39"...although you search the net long enough youll find pics of wild caught 48" ones and search even longer you'll stumble across one or two captive 48inchers in tanks(f-en huge tanks)...most i see like i said though are about 36-39inches...but food is all of the above post and if you have trouble getting yours to take to food try the blood worms(frozen) they worked the quickest for me...good luck and show some pics

pics on way soon, how long is it gonna take to get 36" he is housed in my 4x2x2 cichlid tank at the moment

CKs can grow quickly. I once bought one that was about 2" and it grew to 11" in 6 months.

well, ive been told that in captivity thay can reach 2 feet, and close to 2 meeters in the wild. but any ways, there are ways to get him onto pelets. i know of one person who has done that, and now i am going to attempt that. basically, if its with other fish, you feed him fish at first, if he is large enough. than you start putting in other foods, like blood or black worms, and get him used ot stuff that sinks. than eventually use sinking pelets, and than youre golden, feed him that for a while than once and a while give him something live. if you are going to go completley one live foods, try to gut load, that way he gets proper nutrition.

Hes quite a good eater, he takes pellets of the surface with the rest of the guys ive not tried him on any feeders yet (the kids would kill me lol). He hides away a bit more now though only to surface at feeding time.

at least your eats mine hasnt eaten real food for a few days...i see him pick at the ground when the lights are out early in the A.M. but he hasnt grown...pissin me off this CK with eating disorder crap

They grow very fast and can outgrow other fish. Dont have anything that will pick on them because they will fight back and will beat the crap out of the other fish. Mine ate cichlid pellets, shrimp, bloodworms, krill, feeders, and silversides. GL with your ck they are awsome.
